Russell, English, Scoma & Beneke, P.C. has for decades represented numerous insurance companies in the defense of personal injury and property damage tort litigation in a multi-county area surrounding Bureau County in North Central Illinois, having tried jury cases to verdict in nine counties. Our insurance defense practice involves primarily automobile accidents, premises liability, slip and falls, animal act cases, construction injuries, and statutory and common law tort litigation. Additionally, our firm has had frequent involvement in declaratory judgment actions for litigation of insurance coverage issues and interpleader litigation for the payment and distribution of insurance policy limits among multiple claimants. Another aspect of Russell, English, Scoma & Beneke's general civil litigation is the representation of plaintiffs in personal injury and wrongful death litigation in Bureau and surrounding counties, primarily in auto accident and premises liability cases. Over the years, Russell, English, Scoma & Beneke has been actively involved in both the defense and prosecution of numerous civil appeals involving a wide variety of issues in the Appellate Court of Illinois and before the Illinois Supreme Court. In the area of alternate dispute resolution, Russell, English, Scoma & Beneke has been involved in numerous uninsured motorist and underinsured motorist arbitrations, serving both as a litigant and as an arbitrator, having been selected on different occasions by the respondent's attorney, the claimant's attorney, and by the two arbitrators selected by the parties to serve as the neutral arbitrator. Additionally, we provide service as mediator to facilitate mediated settlements of general tort litigation cases. As to general civil litigation, Russell, English, Scoma & Beneke is experienced in litigating a wide variety of cases including breach of contract, specific performance, partition, mortgage foreclosure, mechanic's liens, and estate litigation.
